Product Description

This series is equipped with a specially designed fluid head to support the best in camera equipment. Cast and machined from robust aluminum alloy, and coated in hammer-finish epoxy, the head of the MH5000 is stove enameled at 320 degrees centigrade and protected with lacquer. Its robust handles have integral rubber control surfaces. Hydraulic pressure allows the photographer precise control over the image, allowing time to enjoy the scene being captured. The quick pan head incorporates a special patented double safety lock and a sprung location pin, which allows the equipment to be simply and quickly loaded and unloaded.

Technical Details

  • Pan lock: The series incorporates a pan lock beneath the pan head. Once the pan head is installed on the tripod, the three set-screws secure the pan head firmly, protecting your valuables.
  • Multi-angle design: The head is an unlimited 3-way design, with each movement having independent action. Its robust handles allow easy securing, and its special fluid pan movement allows a full 360 degree turn the ultimate in flexibility.
  • The MH-5001 head has two spirit levels, one on the head and one on the frame, the yellow of the spirit levels blending with the cool black finish to give an air of professionalism.
  • Space-saving handle: The two handles can be joined together to allow neat and space-saving storage.
  • Camera attachment and release: Beneath the camera platform of the MH5001, two patented controls allow the loading and unloading of the camera. The camera attachment screw is spring-loaded to prevent damage to the camera

I have both a Giottos convertible tripod and monopod. Both aluminum. Have never had any problems with any of their products. I bought this item to use on my tripod, for shooting long telephoto shots. It is much easier to use for these purposes, than a ball head. I use the ball head
for macro work, and this one for long work. What I didn't expect, was
to end up using it with my monopod as much as with the tripod. A monopod
is much easier to maneuver in crowded places, and when braced against
a railing or other solid object, provides a very stable and steerable
platform for your camera. I added a quick-release to the bottom of this
and my ball-head. Now I can easily switch between the two, as the need arises.

Purchased this to support a Canon XTI with 100-400 L series canon zoom, a weighty setup. Great unit. The head in sitting on Bogen-Manfrotto 3021BPRO Professional Tripod (purchased without Head (Black). Together they form a get combo. Yes, you can find lighter units, but heavy means more stability.

Smooth, solid and a nice quick connect mechanism. I am using for a video camera in a weatherproof case - lots of weight. Good deal.
